King Yayati found!!!

18th dynasty's end story  is most puzzling mystery for the Egyptologists and they are clueless on many issues. If we solve these mysteries, we would be able to know ancient Egyptian civilization more.

I am trying to do it from several angles by writing about several kings and queens to create this big picture and this post is also one in that direction.

I tried analyzing the name of king called  Ay. Was he really Ay? or his name is related to it but truly Ay.

Now check the nomen as given above

Is it the same as the actual find?

Now if we can see the order of the letters which are visible :

U33    nTr      ii

  A2   ii

 nTr    HqA

Now the second sign from the top row is now so clearly visible but it could be any of the two bottom row signs except the extreme right one, as rod is visible clearly but  it could be another sceptre which is called bull sceptre, F12 wsr which has the phonetic value of u or va and the words associated with it would be usra=bull or vasura=rich.

or for argument sake even , S34 is not ruled out but considering the gap between i and the visible rod is so small, it is not possible to write this S34 symbol.

None of these symbols are going to change the meaning and the reading for sure. So lets assume the second symbol in the top row is nTr.

Now reading this would give:

netra-zaka-vAsa/vasati- yayAti-netra= netra-zaka--netra-yayAti-vAsa/vasati= leader of zaka, leader yayAti lives/living.

Thus the name of this king is yayAti, the most known name in the lunar dynasty whose story is available in different scriptures.

Now once we know how to read this name, lets us try reading the nomen which might have been copied from some where else but many a times, the reproduction on the paper is not the same as the intention of the ancient scribe and hence the order of reading the letters in not clear and sometimes we need to locate the letters to complete the word. It has happened in the known validated names too.

Now, reading this would be

{rasA/rasa/sAra/rAzi/zura/sara}----(netra-yayAti-bhU)= sara -(Leader- yayAti-becoming/existing/arising).

I have chosen this word sara because out of several meanings, it has the meaning air/wind as well as the lake of water, brook etc.  thus representing both the air name and water name.

Now, we have two options for  A2 symbol, either we use it with its full word rasa or just use it as a determinative for the word yayAti.

The meaning for yayAti= ya+yAti= fame+ achieve= achieving fame. Thus determinative symbol A2 with man's hand to mouth which denotes eat, drink, speak, think etc. holds good here. This it is just aiding to our information without giving any words.

However, if you wish to add the word rasa to this sentence then it becomes:

netra-yayAti-bharas=Leader yayAti cherishing.

Extending it to the previous one which we read would make it

Leader of zaka, living Leader yayAti cherishes.
